Custom Services

Custom commissions are currently closed.
I don't really have the motivation to do them for others at the moment, which means I end up uninterested and taking much too long to complete them.
I will probably open up again in the future, but right now... No. I don't think I can complete them to the quality and timeframe I used to.

I'm completely open to doing customs for other people!  I'll do just about anything from replacing eyechips to a full repaint, as long as you give me enough detail on what you want. Email me if you're interested in comissioning a custom doll from me and we can discuss it. Please include as many details as possible of what you want so I can give you an accurate price quote and actually know what you're after from the start!
Please do note that I don't have any nude/bald bait dolls knocking around ready for you, so you will need to either buy a dolll or send one you already have to me for customisation. I am very reluctant to buy a doll for you.

I'll do Pullip, Namu, Taeyang, Dal and Little Pullip customs. I'm also willing to repaint Blythes, BJDs, 27cm Dollfies, Obitsu pre-rooted and bald heads and Barbie heads. Pullips are just what I have most experience with, and love the most! Prices on these will vary, so email me with details of what you'd like doing and I'll tell you how much I would want for them.

There aren't many restrictions on what I won't do, but I will not make copies. Not of released dolls, of my other customs or of other people's customs. I will consider making a likeness of a prototype that has not been released, but no released dolls. I will restore dolls if their faceup has been damaged somehow, but that's as far as I go. I won't make a Panda or Principessa or this amazing Japanese custom you saw on Y!J or whatever for you.

The prices below are meant as a guide. I merge prices together if doing mulitple things for you as many things involve the same work being done (eg: the head has to be opened for both facial repainting and eye swapping). All the prices are subject to change. Sometimes I find something's easier than I thought so the price comes down, others it turns out to be a major headache to do so the price is upped a little. The complexity of what you want done also changes the price.

Facial Repaints;
This involves removing stock makeup and replacing it. Simple enough. I can do a partial repaint (for eg, if you just want lips repainted) or the whole thing. Faces are done in a mixture of acrylic paints and chalk pastel. All are sealed with Testors Dullcote or MSC Flat (depends on what I've got at the time) and acrylic gloss if needed.

Cost - Dependent on extent of work. Usually between £10 and £17. Partial repaints are less.

Tattooing & Piercing;
Tattoing simply involves painting designs onto the body and sealing them. I can paint anything that's not got really tiny details in it (Remember I'm only human!).
Piercings can be either fake or real, though I'll only do real piercings on the ears as drilling through your dolls face plate makes me shudder at the mere thought. I don't want to risk ruining your doll. Faux piercings are done by gluing a bead or gem or whatever onto the doll wherever you want the piercing. Small facial piercings can also be painted on iif they're in an awkward place (see Shar's nose stud).

Cost - Tattooing is variable depending on how complex and large a tattoo you want. Piercing will only be done if I'm doing other things for you at the same time. Sending me a faceplate just to drill a hole in it seems silly.
Eye chip installation;
This involves cutting out the stock Pullip rubber irises and replacing them with hard plastic irises. These are originally made for Blythe dolls, but sanded down will fit Pullip nicely. These can be backed with either a flat coloured, patterned or holographic paper to give depth. They can be painted on the back to add other colours, and highlights may be added on the front.

Cost - Purchase price of chips (unless provided by you) + £2 for installation.
Acrylic eye installation;
This involves modifying the eye mechanism to hold an acrylic half-eye rather than the usual Pullip eye. Acrylic eyes are more realistic and usualy come in more natural colours and patterns.
I can install these so that the eye mechanism works perfectly, with both blinking and side to side movement. No plastic needs to be removed from the front anymore, only the back. 22 or 24mm half rounds ONLY can be used. Any bigger or smaller will not fit onto the eyemech, and I cannot use full rounds or ovals.

Cost
- Purchase price of acrylic eyes (unless provided by you) + £5 for installation.
(NOTE: I will not purchase eyes from Artistique for you. Any other acrylic eye seller is fine, but I will not buy from them again. They provided me with a blatantly incorrect tracking number for my last package, which never arrived, ignored me once I pointed it out and then swore I'd never contacted them when I filed through paypal for a refund.)
Elf Style Ear Extensions;
This is done by moulding an extension of the doll's ear out of epoxy putty. It will then be painted over, once set, to match the doll's skin tone (not always an exact match, matching paint to plastic is absolutley impossible due to the differences in material but I try to get it as close as I can). These will be non removeable as the epoxy bonds with the plastic.

Cost - £7
Hybriding & body changes;
This involves changing the body of a Pullip, for either a male body or another female one from a different maker or body type.

Cost - Purchase price of body (unless already provided by you) + £3 for installation.
Spray or Sand Matte finish;
For those who want to matte their shiny Pullips faces, I can either sand or spray matte the face-plate, without damaging the makeup. Sand matting is trickier and more prone to accidents. Spray matting is safe and quick.

Cost - £3 for spray, £7 for sand. Be sure to state which you want!
Full Body Repaints;
This involves a complete respray of the dolls entire body and head to change the skintone. I can do  this on either hard or soft busts, BUT repaints done on soft busts will need to be treaed carefully and are not really suitable for a doll that is going to be handled regularly. A hard bust is far more durable. Perosonally, I recommend Obitsus or type 3s as they have the least friction points and a joints system that is less likely to chip. Chiping IS a posiblity, so please be aware of that before going ahead with a re-spray. Chipping mainly occurs around the shoulders and hips.
Currently I am using Vallejo Model Air paints, but am looking into others as this range is focused on miitary model makers, and the colours available reflects that. Respraying is SEVERAL hours of work and takes up a lot of paint and sealer, so these are kind of pricey.

Cost
-  £12 , plus purchase price of a replacement body if required.
Wig Styling & Cutting;
I can do a certain amount of restyling on doll wigs. I have cut several for my customs so have had some practise. I can do a bit of styling, but I do not own either curlers or straighteners (my hair does what it wants, not what I want) and am not going to buy the things just for the occasional wig. I can do straightening with boiling water, and curling with rollers or boil perms, but the former does fall out over time and boil perms have variable results.

Cost -  Purchase price of wig  (unless provided by you) + £5-9 for cutting/styling

Anything not listed, ask me about it and I'll see if it's within my abilities.

You are not expected to pay for things like paint, chalks, epoxy etc. I have these things anyway most of the time, and am likely to use them again if I have to purchase them for your project.
If you want eyechips replaced (or acrylic eyes put in) you will need to either send them to me along with the doll or paypal funds for me to buy them for you, preferably before full payment for my work. Likewise for wigs. If you have a particular bead or stud you'd like used for a faux-piercing, send that along to me too. Bear in mind that some things like this may take a while to arrive and may prolong the time it takes for my to be able to send your doll back home.
Surprise!
Something new I'm willing to try out, a sort of surprise custom based on some info you give me.
Fill out the following form (remove my examples within the brackets) and I'll design something from your info. The only bits that really need to be done are the things you'd rather not have since I don't want to make a doll you totally hate!

I like the colours: (eg: red, green and black)
But I don't like: (eg: blue, purple and yellow)

I'd love to have: (eg: elf ears and a busty body)
But could really do without: (eg: acrylic eyes)

Styles I like: (eg: fantasy, high fashion)
Styles I don't: (eg: period costume, pirates)

The base doll is: (eg: Raphia)
My budget: (eg: £35)

I'll then draw a design based on any ideas I get from the information you gave me. I can either show this design to you for approval, or you can opt to keep it a total surprise and the first you'll see of it will be the finished doll (I will be willing to make some small changes if anything really bugs you). The budget you give me will decide just how much gets done to your doll. If you've a budget of just £15 or something, you'll just be getting a facial repaint and maybe some new eye-chips. Larger budgets could allow for much more work to be done. The budget covers things like wigs and eyes too, but it won't cover me buying a whole new doll to make the customisations on (unless you actually specify that you're giving me this huge budget cause you've not got a base doll ready and need me to purchase one). You're quite welcome to send me some inspirational pictures (makeup, models, actors, artwork, other dolls etc) you like along with the info.

Payment
My preferred payment method is via Paypal, in British Sterling. If you cannot pay through Paypal, then we can probably work something out. I can accept British Postal Orders, personal cheques and bank transfers from within the UK and concealed cash in most currencies (this is entirely at your risk and should be sent by registered mail).
After a lot of confusion and being told conflicting things by various sources (
The post office tells me the bank can cash it, the bank tells me the post office can...), I'm just not going to accept money orders from outside the UK.

I don't expect payment until I've shown you photos of your doll and you've ok'd all my work. Your doll won't be sent back to you until your payment has cleared though.
Shipping
Shipping for getting your doll back to you will be extra and depends on how much it weighs.

Shipping prices are availabe from the Royal Mail's web site.

If you want your doll sent by an insured or tracked mail service, PLEASE SAY SO.
For overseas I can send by Airsure (insured, tracked & priority) or International Signed For (insured & tracked). Airsure costs an extra £4.50 on top of regular airmail, International Signed For costs an extra £3.50. Within the UK I can send by Recorded Signed For (insured& tracked) or Special Delivery Next Day (insured, tracked & priority). Recorded mail is an extra 68p on top of regular postage, and Special Delivery starts at £4.10 for 100g.
I will ask which you'd like, but if you don't say what shipping mehod you want, I will most likely send it by the cheapest method. However, I will not be held responsible if your doll is lost if you have opted for an untracked shipping method.
